DotShoppingCart Version 2 is coming soon

DotShoppingCart Version 2 will have a CMS (content management system) framework. Shopping cart will become a module for the CMS. More modules will provided such as blog, forums etc. Essentially the project will turn into a ultimate web site builder framework. Maybe I should rename the project name. Anyway if anyone wish to do beta test, please send email to luke@dotshoppingcart.com. The projected release date is the end of Feb.

Good to hear.

Will you make it as an integrated module, or will the shop still be seperately available?

Also, is the shop multilingual? And is it usable for the European market? (Offline payment methods, new payment modules etc)

Re: DotShoppingCart Version 2 is coming soon

I have not tested DSC against the medium-trust. There is a store http://www.dashshopping.com/ that is set up on the shared hosting plan on http://www.discountasp.net/. I bet DSC has already supported medium-trust :).

Reply to Peter's question. The shopping cart module will be provided as an integrated module. The shopping cart module along with the CMS framework will always be  open source. Any portion that is already open source will always stay as open source. We won't downgrade any features of the open source edition either. The idea of open source is that you don't have to be locked on to any company. Even if the company behind the platform dies the community can still drive the platform. Personally I believe open source and cloud computering are the future of software industrial.

We haven't had time to add the localization support to DSC yet. It could be a V3 feature. To add a new payment is super easy since payment module is implemented as  provider in DSC. You could easily plug in the a new payment module provider. Check this thead http://support.dotshoppingcart.com/forums/Home/tabid/36/forumid/6/threadid/76/scope/posts/Default.aspx for the payment module information.

Re: DotShoppingCart Version 2 is coming soon

Programmers in India are building my e-commerce site using PHP, but it doesn't even come close to Dotshoppingcart.  Especially admin look so poor. More I play with Dotshoppingcart, more I want to build my site using it.  I really love your software.

I wish there are more freelance programmers (with reasonable rate) for ASP as there is with PHP osCommerce.  I think I will have to take ASP course myself, so I can utilize the DotshoppingCart.
