Commercial site using open source version

Is anyone actually using a commercial site using the open source version 2.0 of dotShopping cart?

If so, would you be able to share with us how much customisation did you have to do to the code (if any)?  What would your recommendations be to a new user?

I am planning in demoing an eCommerce site for a potential customer and wanted to know what's the best way to go around it.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

Re: Commercial site using open source version
Hi,

I want to know the answer to this question as well.

Also is it easy to customise the dotshoppingcart? For example, if I want to add my own very specific shipping provider or payment providor, how much do I need to modify existing codes except provider modues themselves?

I tried to launch my web sites with some open source versions but it took months and failed to launch the site. i reluctant to purhchase commerical version until it is proven to be commercial quality first.

Thanks

Oliver

Re: Commercial site using open source version
DotShoppingCart open source edition should work out of box. It has all the basic functionalities for an entry level ecommerce site. We are also developping shipping provider and payment provider from time to time upon customers' request. The provider model gives you the ability to extend the features without touching the main project. The catch is that you need to follow the provider interface.

I know choosing the right solution is a painful process. Let us know if you need any sort of help.
