Installing in ISP

Hello all,

I have a question. I have a account with Discountasp.net and would like to use the DotShopping, Is there anyway to install this without using cmd? They are not going to let me use the cmd. I have my test servers and installed it fine. Thanks

Re: Installing in ISP

You could try to restore the local DB to the server and change web.config to point to the DB server.

Re: Installing in ISP

Thanks for the post. Well no luck with that. I am getting the generic error page. I put the connectionstring to point to my database and nothing. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Take a look at this on how to check the system error and then post the error back so that we can diagnose your issue.

Re: Installing in ISP

Hello,

I did what you said, I set

customErrors mode="Off"
and this is the error that i'm getting now.

Server Error in '/DotShoppingCart' Application.

Runtime Error

  Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

For some reason its happening on my local test server too!!! The intallation went well, I followed the installation webcast that you have and it worked. I went to IIS and configured the virtual directory and permissions. But when I right click on the default.aspx page and select browse from IIS I get the page is not found 404 error and that page is there  in the directory. I am running MS Small Business Server 2003 R2 with IIS 6.0

Re: Installing in ISP

Did you read the text at all? It says your customErrors mode isn't set to "Off".
