when a new category is created, the default value for "Expand Depth" is set to 2, what does this mean?  I tried changing this to one, but it shows no immediate effect.

Does this have anything to do with the display of "Narrow by Price" and "Narrow by Brand"? If not, my 2nd question would be, how do we get rid of the display of these filters?

V1.1 doesn't have "Expand Depth" hooked up. V2 gets this right. Basically it means how many levels you want to display the category and its sub-categories.
