Extra Meta Head Data
I created a redirect in one of our categories labeled 'signs'.  The Redirect works when clicking on the category on our website, however when clicking on the 'signs' category in the admin section the redirect takes place as well so we cant modify the category.

do you know why or how to get around this?

Thanks

We have another company that supplies an online catalog for products so when they click signs in the category list we need it redirected to a URL

Then you don't really need a category for this. Isn't it just showing a hyperlink to the external company? Can you use regular menu for the external categories?

Re: Extra Meta Head Data
I want it in the category portion of our page because thats where the customer is looking to browse our catalog of products.  I have a link elsewhere but it is not getting used as much as if it were in the category list. that is my reasoning behind the redirect.
